The gap we close

IBM Power runs critical workloads. Modern open source rarely reaches AIX and IBM i and when it does, you patch dependencies, fix builds and hope it holds. LibrePower closes that gap.

Enterprise Support

Two platforms. One team on call.

When something breaks in production, someone with root on the same hardware answers.

AIX 7.1 / 7.2 / 7.3

AIX

70+ GPG-signed RPM packages — AI inference, containers, databases, modern CLI. One repo, one dnf command.

  • vLLM, podman-aix, MariaDB 11, PHP 8.3
  • Full LAMP/LEMP with the AIX Toolbox
  • Hardening, custom ports, SLA support

IBM i 7.3 / 7.4 / 7.5 · PASE

IBM i

Curated open source in its own native repo, packaged for IBM i (PASE). Modernize PASE workflows without leaving the platform.

  • ripgrep, Caddy, Vault, rclone and 40+ more
  • DevOps, security and observability
  • Hardening, custom ports, SLA support

How modernization works

From legacy to modern, on the same LPAR.

Step 01 · Assess

Start from what you run

We map your AIX and IBM i estate — versions, workloads, security baseline — and find where modern open source delivers most value, fastest.

Step 02 · Deploy

One repo, signed packages

Add the LibrePower repository and install packages, just like on Linux. No rip-and-replace, no new hardware.

Step 03 · Harden

Tuned to your policy

Pin keys, align builds to your security baseline, wire in observability and CI/CD, port anything missing.

Step 04 · Support

Sustained by the build team

SLA-backed support and daily CVE scans — from the engineers that build and sign the packages.

Software Porting

Not on Power yet? We port it.

Missing package, custom build, closed-source dependency — LibrePower ports and signs it for ppc64le.

What porting includes

  • Source build for ppc64le (little-endian)
  • Endianness and toolchain patches, upstreamed when possible
  • Native RPM or pkg with GPG signature
  • CI job in your repo, rebuilds automated
  • Regression tests on POWER8, POWER9 and POWER10
Request a port
# typical porting cycle
1. audit upstream build system
2. patch endianness and asm intrinsics
3. build on real POWER via CI/CD
4. test regression on POWER8/9/10
5. ship signed RPM / pkg
6. upstream what we can
Certification

Prove your stack runs on Power.

Three-tier program — component, integration, architecture — with independent testing on POWER8/9/10 and a public listing.

FAQ

Questions we actually get.

What does enterprise support cover?
The full LibrePower open source stack on AIX and IBM i: SLA-backed response times, security hardening, custom package ports, compliance documentation, and modernization guidance. Delivered by the same engineering team that builds and signs the packages, in English, French, Spanish and German.
Which platforms and versions are supported?
Packages are built and tested on AIX 7.2+, IBM i (PASE), and Linux on ppc64le (RHEL, Ubuntu, SLES). Builds run on real IBM Power hardware — POWER8, POWER9 and POWER10 — via CI/CD, not emulation.
Are the packages free?
Yes. Every package in the LibrePower repository is free, GPG-signed and kept current. Enterprise support with SLA guarantees, hardening and custom work is a paid service for organisations running open source in production.
Can you help modernize an existing AIX or IBM i environment?
Yes. Modernization is a core service: bringing modern DevOps, observability, security and database tooling to AIX and IBM i without replacing the platform. Adopt open source incrementally on the hardware you already run.
What does software porting cost?
Scoped per project. Typical range: a few days of engineering for a component-level port, weeks for a full stack with regression testing. Contact us with the software list and target platform for a quote.
